What is Hypnotherapy?

20161010_151337_augustHypnotherapy can help us to become less a product of past conditioning, and more freely and deeply ourselves – in touch with our inner resources for a healthy body, balanced emotions and a calm mind. It is a trance like, naturally occurring state of mind that can bring you into a safe, natural state of relaxation. It is a state of focused attention which uses both the conscious and unconscious mind to facilitate change. You have probably experienced hypnosis naturally thousands of times whether you are aware of it or not. Normal, everyday hypnosis occurs when you are driving down the road and lose track of time, or when you are focusing on a book or a good film – often you don’t notice what is going on around you. You are not asleep, and you are in control. It’s an imaginative free-floating and pleasant state of mind where you’re far more aware than usual but also a lot more focused.

Hypnotherapy makes use of an opportunity where the mind is more relaxed, open, and available to plant new seeds, give instructions, learn, or transform old patterns and belief systems. It enables a person to bypass the usual thinking mind with its judgements and habitual responses, and to get in touch with a sense of peace, wisdom, and strength that holds great resources for healing and for understanding. By creating a meeting of conscious and unconscious, it allows a person to access healing state in which deep and rapid transformation is possible.
