What is Bowenwork?

20161010_145921_augustBowenwork is a system of touch that initiates a series of responses throughout the nervous, musculoskeletal and fascial systems and the energetic pathways. Bowenwork moves are designed to free the body's innate healing intelligence by restoring balance and harmony at the cellular level. The precise and gentle moves send subtle vibrational messages along the nervous system to the brain. These messages, when given adequate time for integration by the body, reset and balance the autonomic nervous system which results in improvements in all the body's organs and systems.

Bowenwork is completely safe and appropriate for everyone, with few contraindications. It has helped the chronically ill, the highly conditioned athlete, accident victims, the elderly, pregnant women, newborns, and children.

How Bowenwork originated

Bowenwork was developed in the 1950’s by the late Thomas Bowen of Geelong, Australia. Mr. Bowen’s approach was to reset the tension in specific muscles and muscle groups by using a unique stretch-and-roll-through “move” and then allowing the body time to integrate the changes during pauses between sets of moves.

In the last years of his life, Mr. Bowen allowed several practitioners to observe him in his clinic. One of them, Oswald “Ossie” Rentsch, has been teaching his “Bowtech” interpretation of Bowen’s work since 1986 in over 25 countries. In the U.S. it is better known under the internationally registered trademark, Bowenwork.

I first saw a flyer about Coastal Bowenwork in a local office.  I studied it over, found it very interesting as well as informative and left a message about Bowenwork.  Quickly there was a return call. I was reassured by the very interesting and helpful information and set up an appointment to meet with Celia.

This woman has a sincere heart for helping me, she is focused on the person she is with and explains exactly what she will do, and never rushes me at all. She is reassuring in all areas of my needs making sure I am comfortable at all times.

Celia continues in her training to learn more.  And she is so good about returning any call quickly and helpful with advise.

She makes time in her schedule for extra help when needed. I am very grateful that she has joined our community to help me and others as well. Her teaching skills are very calming.

Sincerely, Maren Porter
