About Celia August

Hi! My name is Celia August and I am a native child of Oregon. I grew up in Grants Pass and was a member of the first graduating class of Hidden Valley High. I just recently returned to my home state and am living in beautiful Yachats.

I have always felt the call to help others. I spent time working with adults and children throughout the US and Canada, serving as a member of the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement. I also worked as a certified nursing assistant, working on the Hospice team for a home health provider. I have worn many “hats” over the years but find the most rewarding work is helping people to transform their pain, problems, health issues, habits or old ways of thinking into new ways that fit their current circumstances.

I understand the pain and difficulties of being a caregiver. When I was 23, I was called home to attend to my mother who was dying of lung/bone cancer as well as a tumor that was too close to her heart to remove. I learned a lot about loving and dying from my mother during this time.

I decided to change careers in 2009, and I entered into National Holistic Institute Massage School. I graduated massage school from the San Jose campus with top honors and on the Dean’s list in April, 2010.

I have always been looking for ways to help people to regain their body’s natural abilities to heal as well as to find internal resources to change or transform their personal situation. I have found both Bowenwork and Hypnotherapy to do this. I received my certification as a Bowenwork Practitioner in June of 2014 and certification as a Clinical Hypnotherapist in August of 2016.

Both modalities require constant training. Most recently in December of 2016 I took Bowenwork for People Living with Cancer and Bowenwork for Women’s Wellness. I am working on completing Specialized Bowen Procedures to better assist my clients. I will be attending In the Presence of Dying – Hypnotherapy for the End of Life. I will update this as I take more training.

The principles I work by

First – Do No Harm
Support the healing systems inherent in the body and mind by using methods and techniques that are in harmony with natural processes.

The Healing Power of Nature
Trust in the body’s inherent wisdom to heal itself.

Treat the Whole Person
View the body as an integrated whole in all its physical and spiritual dimensions.

Practitioner as Teacher
Educate clients in achieving and maintaining health

Celia August is a marvel! I knew nothing about Bowenwork and had never experienced a hypnotherapy session. Celia listened to my concerns respectfully and professionally. She is obviously committed to my privacy and well-being. In short, the Bowenwork and hypnotherapy sessions were an amazing success! I conquered a deep fear, moved past a bad habit and my body is no longer out of balance. I highly recommend her!
